Default fuse box

Hello fellow beetlers, my daughter purchased a 99 beetle and am having problems with the abs light on. took to dealer and said it was the abs sensor and they fixed, Ouch!!!!. Two weeks later abs light came on again. This time they said it was the fusebox on top of the battery. Does anyone know if this could be true. It looks fine and I dont see any burnt out fuses or anything bad. If I do replace the fusebox Where do you buy the main power distribution fuses besides the dealer? Any help is appreciated.

Hm.. What I DO know about that little fusebox on top of the battery, is that it can be prone to failure on the earlier models. Once it's fixed / replaced the issue seems to go away. The DAY I bought my 1998 Beetle a few years ago, I drove 30 miles and the box melted down on the way home, the A/C shut down, the cooling system for the car turned off and it started overheating, the radiator fans didn't work.

So, It's quite possible that the fusebox is the issue. I'm not sure where to get the fuses, but I think that most car electronics places sell them? Maybe?
