They call it something different. I cannot remember the name for it, I can get it for you this week.

2 VW customization shops and 1 dealer, Larsonvw.com service also said the same thing. They dont call it a PCV system.

I specifically called all 3 places looking for the "breather hose" in the "PCV" system. They corrected me everytime I said PCV system' wish I could tell you what the hell the name was...

Whether or not it is called a PCV system or something else, doesnt really matter. Its still the same or is a PCV system.

I still refer to it as a PCV system.

So, I took her to a mechanic yesterday...he says it's just coincidence that this happened after we were under the hood. WHAT!?!? I find it really hard to believe that this just happened on it's own.I'd really be interested in what some of you big time mechanics on here think

I assume your still talking about the "lifter" tick, you are getting from the 15w oil?

Has it miraculously vanished? Wait for it to get really cold one morning and go start it up, then lets see.

15w oil is intially too thick. Especially on cold starts. However, when the car has been run for awhile. The oil will heat up and it softens it up, so it will lubricate better.
As it sits, the oil will thicken back up, and can give you the lifter tick until it is warm again.

I cant remember everything we had talked about...

I still say to change the oil. 15-50 is too thick.

Here is a Tech TIP that the OP might find useful if they are using 15-50 oil.

Excelent advise...... A must read for all DIY'ers and NB owners. Always fill your filter when doing oil changes as this is when excessive wear happens if not done... Everyone should read this Tech....

Thats a good link. It also depends on where you live, whether you want 10w-30 or 5w-30 or even 0w-30

Good point most people don't realise that temperature should be considered when selecting an oil....
