Default Spark Plug Wires

Wondering if anyone has purchased Spark Plug Wires for their 2.0l AEG from German Auto Parts.com. Have had much success with most of the items that I've purchased from them....however...have never heard of STI Brand wires. I just want to ensure that I'm putting good quality on my VW. GAP.com sells their wires for $52.91 vice $99.00 for Bosch at Auto Zone. Don't want to get caught in the you get what you pay for. Some feed back would be greatly appreciated.

If you read enough threads in this forum you will find a few references to problems with some spark plug wires. Not sure why you would have problems, but apparently you can.

I found out that there is one major company that makes spark plug wires in Germany, and that they are very high quality and O.E parts on Mercedes and Audi.
That German company sells its wires to other companies all over the world.
The wires are sold in the U.S. as 'AutoLite'. At Kragen or AdvancedAuto you can get them for a 2.0l beetle for around $70.

I only use Bosch wires and plugs for my 1970's VWs, and the AutoLite wires for a 2.0l New Beetle appear to be much better quality than the Bosch.
The AutoLite wires also come with vw-type wire harnesses and are already labeled for each cylinder.

If you are replacing wires I would also do the spark plugs as well. I only use the NGK Iridium.

I change the plugs and wires every 50K miles with the AutoLite wires and NGK plugs and have never had a problem at all.

Hope its helpful to you.

My '98 is using the wires from German Auto Parts dot com. I bought them in May of '08 when I replaced the head gasket, so I'm not sure if it was the STI brand or not, but I have not had any issues with them.
