Angry New Beetle 2003 Airbag light and check Engine on

Hi, i have my convertible tow to the Quirk VW in braintree, ma , and they said that i need a Ignition coil pack, spark plugs and wires. Est$774.00 installed and for the air bag light it needs air bag control module est$961.00(shorted out) ,

my car is drivable but Airbag light and Engine line on. last night it couldn't drive ( the emission small gas and smoke, lost power if try to drive it). but i can drive it this morning.

it seems too pricey for me, they quote 100/h labor. any suggestion?

i am in quincy ma, any suggestion for a repair shop?

Stay away from the dealer. Find a good VW guy and you'll pay a third of that!

Angry further feed back from dealer

The air bag fault was Faulty module- No supply voltage and for the engine light we had p0300,p0301, p0302 p0303 p0304 all misfires and the coil is arcing out which is causing the misfire and what fouled out the plugs and wires.

any thought?

Ignition coil pack, spark plugs and wires not a big issue to change. Find a buddy with some tools and do it for about $250 in parts. As for your airbag issue just a thought, fix the ignition coil pack, spark plugs and wires then see if the light goes off. ECU's can get confused an throw erroneous codes.

right now when i drive the NB, i can feel the bump when i stop for a red light or so, feel so sad.

btw, i just order a vw/audi code reader from amazon, i think i would join the DIY team now. i don't understand how the airbag module can fail, i simply change the battery . after i change the battery, the airbag light comes on.

Welcome to the DIY team. Some dealer parts will be higher than most. Here is a link to ECS Tuning. A great place to buy parts cheaper. Also Germanautoparts.com is another parts house that I use.

Didn't know about the battery thing. Just start over on installing it. Remove neg terminal then pos. Wait ten minutes then connect pos. then neg. terminal. Should clear the airbag light.

i swear by these guys.

oem quality without oem boxes.

ps: i travel, let me know. i'll do all the labor for $100. i'd do it for less if braintree wasn't 2 hours away.

i have ordered the spark plugs, coil pad and the wires. I m the 3rd owner of my NB, and there hasn't been any maintenance to the Engine since it born .
