Were you able to resolve the problem? Mine is loose too and failed car inspection today because the guy said he couldn't hook up the reader to the connector

Here is a post with a pic (BD DIY 019) of the diag connector (pink), to the right of circle #1; not certain what year your NB is, but I believe they are all in the same place.

It is held in by two screws; left and right side of the connector.

I searched for the two screws and noticed that one side of the connector actually broke off . I am going to loose both screws and see if I could superglue it back. If not, I guess its off to the shop. Thanks again for the help!

One of mine broke off too, so my connector is hanging out from the dash. No problems hooking up a code reader either. Been this way for probably a year now.

Oooooh. That's an idea. The guy at the DMV failed me because he couldn't hook up the reader. I should just unscrew the other end and let it hang completely loose. That way he has free access to it.

Shouldn't fail you just because he couldn't figure out how to connect it! Should be a non-issue. I had one side broken at first and it would kind if disappear into the dash, but you could get to it and connect it, just took more than 2 seconds.

The only problem with it being down is that it gets kicked a lot. I am nervous about breaking it more...might have to figure out a way to get it back in.
