Not 100%,
But besides it being rusted so bad and welded in numerous spots, Im thinking the cat was plugged up.
After I installed the downpipe and first muffler, started up the car and it seemed to open it up, car seems to run with more power now ??
Had the rear muffler installed, seems to be running with more flow out,
its done...

Default Huge puddle of oil

Help! We have been browsing the forum for quite a while and this is our first post. A couple of weeks ago we replaced a flex part and the mechanic welded the exhaust manifold. An expensive repair ... $900 Canadian. Noticed an oil leak on Friday and took the car directly to the mechanic. The put it on the hoist washed it off and said they could not locate/see where it was leaking. Put on a new oil filter and all new oil. The car sat overnight and on Saturday morning we had a hugh puddle of oil under the car, just huge! Is it possible the two could be related? Could it be a seal? Thanks for any information.

Yes, I would say quite a bit of oil. Certainly not just a drip. On Saturday morning it was puddle about 10 inches in diameter. It is at the garage and we are hoping they have an opportunity to have a look at it today. Hoping it is not an expensive repair!

) Back on the road again! Mechanic says it was a seal/gasket behind the oil filter. It has been replaced and is ready to go ... $130 later!

No, not the seal on the actual oil filter. They explained it as the oil cooler gasket/seal which is apparently located behind the oil filter I guess. Hope this makes sense! Just happy to have it fixed!

well timed thread as my daughter has a 99 nb with the same 2.0l aeg engine and a cracked exhaust manifold. loud ticking. i am considering pulling the exhaust manifold myself but in the past, i have heard of bolts or studs breaking during removal. how likely is this and is it fixable by a nonprofessional ? thanks for any help.
