Default coolant & oil light come on

Yesterday I was out driving my 03GLS when after about 4 miles the coolant light came on blue, then shortly after I heard a beeping noise so I look down and the oil light is on! YIKES! I pull the car over and turn it off. I was at my destination anyways. I come back out and start the car and drive straight home (about 3 or 4 miles)same thing happens when I get almost home. I let it cool down for a bit and then checked the oil level and it was good. I didn't want to drive the car to work this morning but I had no choice (18 miles). Same thing, I get 3/4 of the way to work and the coolant light comes on blue, I pull into work and just before I turn the car off it beeps and the oil light comes on. I'm not a gearhead. I know the basics of an engine but if anyone can help me get an idea of what I might be up against I would very much appreciate it. I know there are alot of very knowledgeable people on this site!

Time to replace your coolant temperature sensor Also, do you have a 1.8T?

Well my red oil light came on, with the warning beeps, very often.
Diagnosed fault may be due to aged oil pressure sensor as mine is a year 2000 model 2.0 NB. will be replacing sensor soon.

Change your coolant temperature sensor. Its $9.99 at advance autoparts or $27 at the dealership.

I would also recommend that you buy a new retaining clip for it from the dealership for $.50 just incase you drop yours waaaaaaaaaaaaay down into the engine bay.
