Default check engine light and shaky

Hello.
2001, 2.0lt., 5peed. had it's 60K mile service thing already.

My check engine light is flashing. And it feels like a spark plug is out or something. Like it's not got a lot of power and when you try to accelerate, it's really jerky and shaky. once you get up to speed it's hard to notice it as bad...
It started flashing and having this issue on the freeway. Then went away to the end of the day. Now it's an all the time thing.

Anyways, I have an appointment in the morning, but thought I'd ask here too.

Thanks!

Spark plugs been changed lately? Could also be ignition coil potentially. Its hard to say with 100% certainty until the codes are pulled though. A flashing CEL means misfire.

If it's flashing, get it checked right away.

According to the manual, if the light is on solid, there is a malfunction in the engine system. If it's blinking, the catalytic converter could be damaged.

They recommend have it corrected right way, only drive with reduced power.

You may want to invest in your own code scanner so you don't have to pay the $100-$150 diagnostic fee at the dealership each time. There is a link to a good one in my signature. It will pay for its self almost twice over the first time you use it.

With a flashing CEL, going somewhere like Autozone for free should be sufficient. While getting a scanner is a good idea, the car needs to be scanned ASAP right now.
