Issue with keyless remote

Hello, my girlfriend has a 2004 2.0L special edition bettle. (the one with the satellite blue paint job). Her issue is that when she locks her car with the keyless remote the car does not make the beep sound anymore. Any idea as to what is causing it not to beep any more. Her keyless remote as well as my copy both seem to function correctly.

Hello, welcome to the ORG! The only time I don't get the "beep" when i lock my buggy up is when something has been left open or on. If a door is left ajar, or the trunk is only caught on the first latch, anything that isn't fully where it is suppose to be. Assuming you have checked that, I'm not sure, but I'm sure someone on the Org, will have some advice for you. Good Luck!

Something isn't closed... Check everything; Trunk, both doors, and hood and it should beep when u lock it.

My 01 always beeps when I lock it with the remote, not when a door is open etc. Does it actually lock when you try to lock it with the remote?

My keyless remote will not lock my doors, I have to lock it with the key manually...Is the remote runs out of battery?

My wife's 99 won't always lock the driver's side door. That's with two different remotes. The lights don't come on when you open the doors, either. They do when you open the door after the car has been running, though. I chalked it up to the quirks of an old bug

It can be one of the microswitches in the door lock assembly that is faulty. Especially when the problem is only at one side.
