Exclamation 2002 Turbo new beetle ran out of gas, now won't start.

Husband drove home with the low fuel light on yesterday. When he went out to start the car this morning it would start run for a few seconds then die. Has added 3 gallons of fuel with no luck. Is there a way to prime the lines to get the fuel flowing to the engine?

If you have an owners manual, check that. These fuel injected engines don't like being run out of gas. No carb to prime.....

Try putting the key in the ignition and just turning the key- don't start it. Do this for a couple of times. When you do, you should hear a whining sound for about 3-5 seconds. That's your fuel pump delivering your fuel- at least that's what someone told me. I know when I was servicing Cup and she was down for a few weeks, I was told to do this so she'll get fuel fed to her- I had no problems. I hope this works for you.

Let us know what your resolve is.
