Default what does the A/T Filter & Pan Gasket do?

what I'd like to know is, should I go ahead and have this non-serious leak fixed? would it be a good idea to do it so that the filter can be changed too while he's working on it?

My dad noticed my baby is leaking oil, it's not gushing or anything, but a couple drops a day. He's worried, so I just took it to a vw shop down the street from me to have it checked out.

the mechanic said it wasn't serious and doesn't need to be fixed right away, gave me an estimate

labor: $150/hr but he said it wouldnt take more than an hour, maybe more than half

A/T Filter & Pan Gasket kit: $20ish? I can't remember well but it was about that much

his total estimate was around $180-215

he was so much nicer than the people at the dealership

It's a pretty simple job so it depends on wether or not you wanna pay 900% more for someone else to do it. If it were mine, I would fix it...myself! And from what I've heard of the auto trannies, they need all the maintanance they can get!

If its leaking oil, it wouldn't be the a/t filter, unless it was leaking transmission fluid, check the dipstick orange part, that tends to break at the base and leak oil, 3 dollar part fixed mine pretty quick
