Default 98 2.0L leaking oil from valve cover......

Beetle uses 1 quart every 300 mi (car has 78,000 mi). Check engine light is also on. Checked codes at Auto Zone, and they show:411 (secondary air injection system, incorrect flow) and 440 (evaporative emission control system malfunction). Any ideas? How to fix? Cause? Thanks.

The secondary air problem is most likely a bad vac hose...specifically the one that goes to the fuel pressure regulator. If you have vac hoses which are cloth, try replacing them with either rubber or better yet silicone hoses (3.5 mm inner diameter). If you open your hood and look on the black plastic fan housing at the front of the engine bay (where the hood latch is located), you will see a vac hose diagram. Good luck.

Not sure about the evap problem.
