My 2001 2.0 is throwing an error code P0343 which is the cam position sensor. One of the threads says to test the voltage on the CPS connector (wires 1 and 3). It checks out. The thread also says to crank the engine by hand and test the voltage on wire 2. To do that, I need to cut into the wire and test it. I do not have a wiring diagram and cannot figure out which is wire 2 in the harness.
Can someone tell me what the colors are for wire 2 on the CPS? Also, to replace the CPS, to me it is no 10 minute job. The motor mount support must be removed to be able to get the timing belt cover off. Is that correct. Thanks in advance. Obie |

I know it is the number 2 pin in the middle. But the way the electrical connector is made, I can not trace which wire is connected to the 2 pin without destroying the connector.
I need an electrical diagram or for someone to look and tell me what the color of the wire is for the 2 pin |

The car can also throw a cam sensor code if the engine is out of time more than a few degrees (one or two teeth). Take the top timing cover off and line up the dash on the cam pulley with the ot arrow. On the valve cover sheild. Then check the crank pully mark with the arrow on the lower timing cover or the mark on the flywheel and window on the tranny if you have a manual shift.
If the timing is corrrect, all you need to do to get to the cam sensor is loosen the cam gear nut, time the belt back to top dead (ot), release the tension, geet the belt off, remove the loosened cam bolt, remove the cam gear, there will be a woodruff key that might come out DO NOT LOSE IT. Then the sensor is right there being held in with 2 or 3 bolts. Then reverse the process to re-assemblel making sure that the lower and upper timing marks are lined up. Also note that method does not replace the belt with a new one, or touch the water pump, if it is about that time to replace them, go the full route with removing the mount to get it all off. There's no point of doing the disassembly twice. It.s really not as hard as it seems.
