Default How I fixed my "system too lean bank 2" check engine light.

The car was running like crap, sputtering, misfiring..

I replaced the spark plugs (which were fouled), I replaced the coil (which did show hairline cracks), I put 3 bottles of injector cleaner in the tank (thinking it was a clogged injector) but nothing helped. The car still would not run right, sputtering and stalling.

So I tried disconnecting the MAF and presto! The car ran fine.

I bought a new MAF (the kind that comes in the tube already) and put that in, hooked it up, and the car ran better than ever! Most likely also due to the new plugs and coil.

After a day or two of driving, the CEL light went out and never came back on again. Problem solved.

Now if I can just figure out how to make the permanent air bag light go out, I'll be 100%. I'm guessing that's a sensor in the passenger seat but haven't bothered investigating.

Anyway - hope this helps someone out there with a too lean CEL.

Good job on the fix. My money is on one of the seat belt buckels for you airbag light. They are known to break a wire in them with use and send a code.
