Default Need a tutorial for intake manifold removal

Does a tutorial/pictorial already exist that explains the step by step procedures for removing an intake manifold from a 2000 Beetle/manual w/2.0 engine? So far I have removed the wiper arms and windshield area cowl and also removed the sort of metal shroud in the engine area against the firewall. I see approximately 3 allen bolts on the front but can't see any rear bolts? Maybe underneath? Anyways, I do want to replace the fuel injectors and I have found a decent tutorial for that procedure.

No need to pull off the wipers and cowl. There are 5 allen bolts towards the front of the car and 2 bigger allen bolts on the back side. I just felt them and undid them blind. Go in from the passenger side of the motor and you'll be able to feel them.

Once you felt the (2) rear bolts... how were you able to access them? From underneath? What specific sort of tool did you use?

Great Photograph! Could you also explain to me which hoses or parts need to be removed (locations, etc.) so I can lift it out of the vehicle exactly like in your photograph?

Thank you!

Just use an L shaped allen wrench and reach around from the back left side of the engine. Can't remember the size for the life of me. Maybe 8mm. I only pulled off the plastic hose for the secondary air pump really then held the intake up with a coat hanger and zip ties hooked to the hood. Here are some pics when I did my spark plugs. I've pulled off the intake completely once and painted one, then 2 other times replacing plugs.

Nice pics! I may have a few more questions once I begin... ordered the fuel injectors today so maybe in a week or so.

Thank you once again for all of your help,
David

You bet. That's what this org is all about. I don't have web access at home so I am not on on the weekends usually. Only Saturday mornings every 2 weeks.

Hi Mlt, I used a Haynes Manual specifically for the New Beetle. There's a section on fuel injector removal and installation... no link. But I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
