Oh man, that just sucks! And couldn't pick a worse time either. I can only refer you to a couple threads working of late in the same regard. I think with the a/c indicator light not working I would be looking at the control first. In one of these links I refered the Oper to a place that rebuilds them reasonable, and also to a used one on eBay.

Just finished fixing Cup's fan switch control knob. The repair was done via the DIY link I posted (post #3).

The repair is fairly easy. Just follow the instructions and you'll be golden.

A note of interest.
notice the pic below..

The metal contact piece was broken off Cup's disk. The metal contact piece is anchored on the disk, and apparently breaks from the disk over time. Some Super Glue the metal piece back on the disk. I used some JB Stick Weld putty and melded/ smoothed it over, where the metal strip connects with the plastic disk. Just make sure the JB Weld is flush with the disk, so as not to encumber the rotation of the plastic disk.

Also...
notice in the pic the end of the metal piece. The end of that piece, if you looked at it crossways, has a rounded saw blade pattern, kinda like this...\/\ You'll know what i'm talking about when you see it. Anyhoo, that saw blade contact might have dulled down a smidge over time and you might need to bend it back up slightly, so good electrical contact can be made once again.

I saved at least 40.00 bucks for a used one. Cheap fixes are always good

Well its the little metal piece like everyone else's. And mine is pretty bad the plastic disk is broken a little so I'm getting a used one. How do you get the cables off the back of the switches? Thanks.

I'd give the repair a shot. my disk was broken too- right at the place where the metal piece connects with the disk. I tell ya, that JB stick weld did the trick. It's an easy and cheap fix. I took a pic of my repair. I'll post a pic when I get home.
