Default replacement head info

Im looking to buy a replacement cylinder head. the car is a 99 beetle with 2.0l. the local shop is behind and I dont want to wait a month. why do some ebay listing show the beetle and golf are the same, while others show they will not interchange? Any help will be great.

The only thing you have to make sure is the engine code. A '99 beetle 2.0L engine code is AEG so you have to search for a head for AEG engine that's it. It doesn't matter with car model. Some years of Gold, Jetta, and New Beetle all have 2.0L AEG engines.

I have one! $220 shipped to you with a spare set of lifters sound good? The last head I shipped to the US cost me $80 so it's $140 plus shipping basically. This head is bone stock, it originally came off my 2000 (06/99) AEG Beetle.

I got a rebuilt 2.0 (AVH) head from these folks about 3 weeks ago.

J & C Enterprises - Fairmont, WV - Cylinder Heads

Picked-up for about $200 plus my exchange. They also ship.

They wanted to know the head casting number (above the #1 intake port) and if it had EGR ports (about 1/4 dia holes below the echaust ports).

You will need to remove and reuse the cam gear, all of the studs from your old head (intake, exhaust, valve cover, and tensioner) as well as the oil plug near the water outlet (opposite the cam gear). You also need to install a new cam seal.
