I also do not get any warning that my lights are left on or the key is in the ignition.

I have '99 beetle. Low fuel will turn on the yellow light on the fuel level gauge. Headlamp on will not have any warnings but the system will turn off the head light, leaving only the accessories light and side markers on which can save battery but still allow you to have some lights on. |
