Default New plug wires incoming...

The new spark plug wires I ordered off ECS should be here today or tomorrow. In the mean time, I'd like to hear some suggestions on the best way to install these. I haven't taken a close look at the connections, but I'm hoping it's not a hard install. Any help would be appreciated.

Bump.

Due to the emergence of another thread, I've learned that the wires are probably not the problem It's the Platinum 4's I have in there. Damn it. NGK's it is. But I still want info on how to install these wires.

Well, since you are replacing the wires, you can just yank the old ones off the plugs. If you were just doing plugs and re-using the wires, you'd have to be VERY carefully removing the wires because they damage very easily.

The only tricky thing is the ignition coil side of the wire. Notice when you get the new ones, there is this little compression ring. When you put them on, the ring compresses and there is a groove in the coil where that ring expands and locks the connector in. These are a biscuit to remove. I don't know of any trick (if someone does - please, let me know!) except to pry them off and say a prayer that you don't crack the ignition coil.

Got the wires in, went out and got the NGK plugs, and now everything is working like it should.

Installation was a breeze. I just took close care to make sure the new wire was the same as the old wire. Same cylinders and such. The only thing that I had to do otherwise was take off (what the Bentley manual calls) the secondary air pump. Easy take off, easy put back on.

Success!
