Hiya...

When i was at the S&G i was listening to engines and such as they rolled on in.

Well, when i first got my NB i noticed it sounded like no other engine i'd ever driven and frankly i liked how "clean" it sounded.

Now, one of the things i liked about it was at times you could hear a faint whistling kind of sound and it just sounded cool. So, at the S&G when the cars were coming in a heard ALOT of that sound. Only thing is, theirs was louder and noticable.

My question is this....how do i increase the sound of that noise on my ride??

Does anyone even know what i'd talking about?

It's like a whistle/whirr sound when you rev the engine.

Vee must have zis on mein Beetle!!

Well i guess i'll just have to turbo charge my 2.0.

I see no other option.

Yes, this must happen.

How awesome would it be to put a letter "T" next to my 2.0 badge?

Most likely it was a turbo spooling up that you were hearing. If you want to make your car louder you can get an intake system for your car. Neuspeed P-flow seems to be the most popular for the turbo cars. I'm not soo sure what is available for your 2.0. This will make your car louder sounding because of the extra amount of air that the engine is sucking in, but there will still be no whistle. Good luck.

I'm so new to all the mechanical aspects of cars. I'm learning alot and fast. THis is really bumming me out, but i i'll get over it.

I wonder though if there would be a way i could mimic the sound somehow just for the fun of it?? I'm not a performance freak. In fact, i love the way the car drives as it is. I truly just love the sounds my engine makes and wanted to enhance what it already has.

Either way, it's not a big deal.

I know of the whistle you speak of! I cna only hear it with coasting, and it's very faint, but it sounds almost like a jet turbine spinning down. It gets a lower tone the lower my speed, and is pretty faint. Taking my snowbox off made it a little louder though.

Than i guess i shall find out if that works soon. When i do my calipers i'm gonna do the snowbox with it.

Than if i do the intake like i want to i can try that as well.

This thing would create a bottleneck and acutally make your car slower, while making it sound faster.

Seems like.

However, you could use it to mess with people at shows.

Maybe you could stick it in the place where the snow box is, and as you accelerate enough wind would be generated to drive the whistle??

Well that's where i hear the sound anyway, sounds like a good idea. I guess you could compensate the difference by swiss cheesing the airbox maybe?

Remove the snowbox, put on a CAI, stick the whistle down behind the headlight where the snowbox used to be . The only problem is it probably wouldn't make a sound unless the car was moving, and then it would whistle all of the time
