Default Transmission trouble

Hello. about a month ago I started having harsh downshifts. From what I've been able to find it appears to be shift solenoid problems. I can find replacement solenoids but I don't know if thy are for my transmission. I have a 2006 beetle convertible 6 speed automatic 2.5l gas. I'm hoping someone can tell me how to identify my transmission. Thank you Dan

As far I know there are only 2 automatics, the 4 speed and 6 speed Tiptronic. The 6 speed Tiptronic in my 2003 New Beetle Convertible was an 09G transmission.

The harsh downshift WILL NOT likely be a problem with a solenoid, wishful thinking. EVERY automatic VW had in these Beetles have valve body wear problems. EVERY ONE OF THEM.

The valve body will need to be rebuilt and there is a process where some of the valve body bores are reamed oversize and larger spool valves are installed.

Suggest you search my user name in the Transmission Talk section of the forum.
