Default Gas smell on my 07 bug.

My new beetle with 300 miles on it, gives too much of gas smell when I start the car and warm up. It smells like pure gasoline, and it's not the smog coming out of the car.. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Also, is it normal to see the heater does not blow warm air when I am at idle, but blows heat when it's on the go?

Not sure about the gas smell. They can produce a rawish fuel smell on cold start. Yhe heater is a known issue. There is a repair bulletin to resolve the heat problem. See your dealer.

Exclamation beware

I noticed the slight smell of gas once and awhile, just as quick as I smelled it,it went away. This past saturday I was driving along and it got REALLY bad,so I pulled over and turned the car off, popped the hood and found that gas was spraying out of a line on the passenger side of the engine. I had to have it towed,so I get it back and the dealer said that some hose clamps had rubbed a hole in the main fuel line going to the fuel rail, these "clamps" had also nearly worn a hole in the coolant hose. My advice,if you smell gas,get it looked at. It was bad enough to have this happen, but the treatment from the dealer was awful, and a story all by itself.
