Well its running fine now. After I posted, my hubby drove it around and he said it quit doing it like 20 seconds driving it. I drove it to the store and it ran perfect.

I have owned an '06 and currently own an '07 and can't remember hearing any 'clicking' noises. I know that they run kinda fast and loud the first 30 seconds or so after starting but that's all I have experienced. I agree with the last post-er...warranty and dealer...if it happens again

It has been great since. I wonder if it had to do with the cheap gas I the day before?

That's totally possible. The car only requires regular, but in the owners manual it recommends premium. I always put in mid-grade and my beetle seems to run just fine on mid-grade. It's only an extra $1.40 to fill your tank (if you actually put in all 14 gallons) and I personally think it's worth it.

I have the same problem... exactly. Mine will start rough, then click for a while and while I'm driving I can't hear it, but when I slow down I can. Mine has gotten so bad before that I wouldn't drive it. I've taken it to several mechanics and of course it won't do it while it's there so every time I hear "I can't find anything wrong." If you find out what it is I would sure love to know.
