Default Knocking and smoking.

So my gf went outside yeaterday to crank up her car. I was about to walk out the door when I heard it crank up and it was knocking like hell. I get out the door and it is pooring smoke to. I holla for her to turn it off. Both of us puzzled at this point. I check the oil it is full. So I figure to try and start it again just to see. Well it sounded A lil better but the motor definately had a real light knock sound and was smoking less. So I told her to turn it off. The car was running fine when parked probably 4 days ago. We call and get them to tow it in. We called all day today to try and find out something. Finally get them on the phone. And they said it was not smoking and sounded fine. They said they were gonna try again in the mornin. But I figure there gonna try and give it back when somethin is definately wrong. What should I do? Has anyone heard of something like this before?

It's a 06 2.5 17k. Been pampered. Alway's been dealer serviced so I won't have any trouble there.

Be there when the dealer tries to start it, so you can see for yourself what happens. If they won't do anything, call Volkswagon of America. In order for the mechanics to really diagnose the problem, they need to be able to replicate it.
Good Luck.

I had several problems that the dealer was "unable" to replicate. Long story short, they'll basically tell you you're out of luck until they can replicate it. I started taking pictures and short video clips with my cell phone and digital camera. If you don't have a camera or cell phone that will allow you short video clips, I HIGHLY recommend getting one especially if you're having car issues. Mine saved my butt with my last car.

Mine was knocking a few months ago for like 5 minutes, but no smoke. My hubby drove it around the neighborhood and it quit doing it and never did it again.

I'm sorry I have not posted back.. I forgot I don't get emails when someone posts. Were going to pick it up. Cause like you said they can't replicate it. I do have a camera and I was thinking about doing some video. I think the motor is losing prime when it sats for a few days. I gotta take it on a trip to florida this coming week. Hope nothing goes wrong.. But when i get back I'm gonna park it for about a week get the camera out and start it up. See if it will do it again..
