Default Oil Change Screw-Up

OK... So I did something not-so-bright... I changed my oil in my '06 vert to Mobil 1, but grabbed the wrong viscosity... (non-VW spec 10W30). Do I need to worry about changing it out to the VW-spec'd 0W40 right away, or can it just wait until the next time I change it? Do I run the risk of hurting anything if I go 5000 miles on this stuff or not?

I don't really see a problem, i'm not an expert or anything, but i think all that will happen is you might burn some since it's not as thick. if you have any oil pressure problems, i wouldnt hesitate to swap it out and put something thicker in. But it's mobil 1, so you probably won't have a problem.

Thanks Toad... I had a feeling it was probably OK, but it helps to hear it from someone else!

I'd let it slide. I know 0w40 passes vw spec; but my owners manual requested 5w30 for me; 10w30 isn't TOO bad; just be real soft in the mornings. Give PLENTY of time for warm up before gettin' on it.

Piece of cake.
