Default Signal

Hey there,
not sure if this is the right place to post this..i looked over the list a few times.

Tonight on the drive home, i noticed my right signal was clicking at twice the speed the left signal is clicking at..
I was wodering if that is a setting?

then, i got my dad to go around the car looking at the signals..he says the back signal isnt even working

thought id post here before making a apointment at vokswagon

My guess is that one of your bulbs are burnt out... hyperblinker tends to happen when you have a burnt bulb..

These are easily replaced by yourself (trust me if I can do it, you can do it)

This thread will show you how to do the tail light (and blinker is in there too...)

Might be worth taking a look at this thread instead of taking it in..

Here is how you can do your side indicators..

I haven't done this yet but with those pics & the help here I would try. The dealer is going to charge you way too much. If I can change a headlight , you can change a taillight

You'll need to pry it out. I like a sturdy plastic cutlery knife for this - no fear of scratching paint.
There's tabs on opposite sides of the tail light holding it in.
I just went around the perimeter with my high tech tool, and they slowly popped out.
After that, you just twist out the bulb holder out. The bulb then pulls straight out of the holder. That part is much easier if you wear rubber gloves for traction. Be sure you get the right bulb out, and test the new one BEFORE putting the whole assembly back in.
Good luck

Well my parents got to grandpa before i did. Freaked him out with warrenty issues. So he wouldn't touch it. I gave it a go but didn't get too far. Sooo I'm sitting in vw parts and service where I brought it in with no appointment. Even though their day was really busy they squeeked me in right away. It is covered under warenty which is good except now I have to tell my parents they were right!!! Damn! Haha.

im now home

when i went in to vw they said itd be a few hours because they had lots ahead of me. then..just as i was about to leave..she calls me back in and says to stay ..theyve just squeezed me in right away.
so i wait about half hour or so..and she comes back says hte issue is more then just a burnt out bulb..and that it will take a few hours.

so i wonder off twards the mall ..didnt really wanna go to the mall but maybe get change to take the bus home or call grandpa.

wasnt there more then 20 minutes before she calls and has the problem fixed and the cars ready ahha.

so it was more then a burnt out bulb.something to do with the connections? but she replaced the bulbs and sockit anyways..and it was all coverd.

so im pretty glad to have that done hehe.
