Under Dash Light

I have noticed that my 2007 beetle is missing a light under the dash that lights the tray infront of the shifter. There is light on the 2006 beetles but only a whole where i can feel wire's inside on mine. Can any other 2007 driver confirm if they have this light?

Dealer ship "says" it's not on the 2007's but then why the whole where it should be?

I feel i'm being BS'd.

It could have been deleted due to decontenting. Since I don't own a NB past '05 I can't verify if it is there or not.

My Mom has a 2008 New Beetle Convertible, and yes, the light has been deleted due to de-contenting. However, you are able to add the light to your car easily. The part numbers are as follows:

It is inexpensive to install the light bar that goes under the climate controls. I did it in my Mom's 2008 Convertible. The part numbers are below...essentially all you do is use 2 Scotch Lock tap connectors and splice into the wiring for the other dashboard illumination.

Part Numbers:

Light Bar: 1C0-919-390
Connector: 1H0-973-121-C
Wire Set: 000-979-131-A

If you need these parts, let me know and I can get them for you.

Wow....sorry for the "very late posting." I just now did see this posting regarding the under dash lighting.

I have the same dilemma. I have an '07 NBC and noticed that I have a "slit" of red light emitting from under the dash onto the item VW calls the Ipod compartment. I too thought that VW Mexico left something off of Henry.

So where does one obtain the parts that you have listed in your posting here?

One further question, did the VW NB at one time have the warning lights in the doors? I have red reflectors and it really seems that at one time these were actual lights.

Yes, but when the 2006 revision came, the puddle lamps left with the previous style.

Anyone on the org here happen to know where Peter is getting his parts numbers from and where the source is located for these parts? I have a "slit" of a red light below the climate controls...be nice to have more light down there even if it is RED. Speaking of RED...hope everyone had a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I found an "Ashtray Light" in a donor car at the local salvage yard for a dollar or two. Got the light and pigtail. I further modified my light by removing the one LED and replacing it with three high bright red 3mm LED's (tops filed down about 1mm) with 510 Ohm resistor in series. Just tied the wires into an adjacent switches dimmer wires.
