Default Differences between the BPR and BPS

Hi guys, I was just wondering what the difference is on a 2006 beetle between the BPR and BPS engine codes? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

none.

in fact, all 4 engine codes of the 2.5l-150 are the same. the main difference is in the ecu only.

The difference is in the differently calibrated emissions control components I believe.

So how do you know whether you have the BPS or BPR engine? Nearly everything you look up asks which engine you have.

Thanks,

The BPR is for California emissions. BPS elsewhere.
