Default Code P0691- Fan 1 Control Circuit Low, Help needed

The Engine light has been on for most of this cars 70,000 mile life. The dealer says its ok though as the Air Bag light on the other side is yellow too and it looks even.

Anyhow. Went for an inspection and they found what the dealer could not, a code. P0691 - Fan 1 Control Circuit Low.

Please people, before I spend another $100 to have the dealer clear the code and tell me there is nothing wrong, Direct me how to fix the issue with this code so it can reset itself.

Thanks fellow VW'erz,
xrb

Wish I could help you out, but my 98-02 Bentley manual doesn't list such a code. Or at least I couldn't find it. I'm guessing this is related to your radiator fan(s). Something is haywire in that circuit.

Default Part number Fan control module

Ok, Looks like the Fan Control Module might be the culprit.

Its an '06 2.5L hard top Beetle. Can someone tell me where the module is located? The dealer mentioned it was integrated but I can't see it. This will be hundreds for them to fix.

I could use a part number or diagram so I can get to swapping it out.

Thanks alot!

Bump for the location of the Fan Control Module on my wifeys Bug.

Amazon has this:
00-08 VW Fan Control Unit Module OEM 1J0919506K Volkswagen Beetle Golf Aux. 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08

Looks like a 'common' part. I'd like to swap it to see if the fan will chill out a bit.

Thanks!

Thanks fellow VW'erz,

I recommend you get your own code scanner. If you use it one time, it will pay for its self twice over at the dealership. It even clears the airbag light.

Click the link in my signature for it.
