Default How many miles per tank on a 5 cyl 6 spd?

It's going to take a few days for me to find out as I've only got about 100 miles on my car and my husband and I were having a little discussion about this.

TIA

Depends on how you drive but we usually get right at 300 miles before the low level bells starts ringing. (With an equal mix of city/hwy driving).

Most of my driving will be highway. 28 miles each way to work at 55 mph.

I lead a boring life. Go to work, come home, repeat.

If you do 55 most of the time, you should be very happy with your MPG. Check a few tanks and let us know how you do.

I had been doing significantly higher than 55 for a few miles. I was looking at the speedo indicator not the miles and then realized a bit later it went to 160 NOT 140 like my 99 beetle I'm lucky I caught that before a cop caught ME

I have religiously kept MPG records since day one. I get similar results as SixChuter. My specific MPG has ranged from 21.93 mpg to 28.91 mpg.

I've had my nbc 3 weeks and filled up twice, first tank was 25.4 mpg those were babied miles since car was still breaking in.

my second tank was 28.2 thats with the tire pressure bumped up, however I did go up to the mountains and drove it in sport mode

This is the result of about 20 miles freeway and 6 miles city on my daily commute. I would probably get about 2 mpg better if I had a 5 speed because I would be able to do some hyper-miler things that I can't do with an automagic... like short shift. I always feel the automatic is 1 gear too high for maximum fuel economy.

Oh... and check your speedo against a GPS. Before I corrected it with bigger tires, my speedo was about 10% too fast... This resulted in more odometer mileage than reality, and artificially improving my mpg to 28+ in the same driving cycle.

Well thats not exactly true. The odometer and the needle have different error rates. The only way to measure the odometer error rate is to measure out a mile and check against the odometer. You could use a smaller distance but it would be hardler to detect the error if there was any at all. The greater the distance the more pronounced the odometer error will be. Personally, I've never seen an odometer have a humanly detectable error rate.
