Default I did the 2.5 oil change yesterday

Now that was not bad at all, pretty simple

It was amazing on how much shinny metal was showing in the oil drain pan after 450 miles, I have always done this on all my new cars (the wife's RedRock) my Question is what is used for the bottom lower cap the drain the oil from the oil filter housing?

I did notice that there is a small push in yellow type nipple under that cap,and very hard to push in as well what tool goes onto that part? That is the only thing I need.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... that may not be good changing it that early.... I think the 2.5's first oil change is supposed to be a late change. Something about the oil having something "extra" in it to help everything settle into place. Check your owners manual.... I really hope i'm wrong on this one.

He talked to the VW techs at the time of purchase and told them the plan and they didn't see any problems with it.

I don't think there would be any problem with changing the oil that early. I think the first oil change is supposed to be 6000 miles according to the owner's manual. But it shouldn't hurt to change it earlier.

And the tech says they put Mobil 1 in it at the get go.
there is no more run-in-oil anymore as he says.

He says to bring it back @ 10K that is not an option for
this car. I will now that I have added my own brand and did
the service at 450 miles. makes me feel better now.

I told the service rep what I was going to do and he said that
is fine with him. and I think he kind of agreed with me as well.

Folks this is something I myself have been doing for years
and it works. the metal shavings must come out to make the engine last forever.

My issue here is this oil change on the 2.5 is pretty easy , with out all that pump stuff I have been noticing in some threads here.

Ohhh,,,, and I wanted to know what adapter is used on the bottom part of the oil filter housing, to drain the oil out of it first before removing the rest of the housing. yesterday I removed the housing, kind of messy, but it worked.
thanks,
Jeff

I use a larger philips screwdriver and push the oil drain plug back till it pops in the filter housing so the housing can drain, sometimes u need to loosen the housing a little so the housing can get air to drain, but before you put the new filter in the housing remember to pop the orange drain plug back down or you will have a huge oil leak at start up. Good luck

It's just a spring loaded plug. Push up and over with a screw driver and it "locks" into place draining the housing. I just put a funnel under it into a jug. Once it's drained you can push it up and center it again and it falls into place. The filter comes off nice and clean then.
