Default Anyone with a 2.5 run synthetic?

I've always run synthetic oils, trying to decide if I'll switch the NBC over. I haven't done any research yet but does anyone here run synthetic?

I am partial to Royal Purple. Anyone run anything different?

VW specifies full synthetic oil for the 2.5 Check the bottle to make sure it meets VW specs. Castrol syntec 5w30 is supposed to be made to meet the vw specs. Just had the first 10000 mi oil change (covered by carefree maintenance), and the oil looked brand new with 9600 miles on it.

At my first oil change due in about two months (5k), I will use Mobil1 0w40 and VW oil filter

Ive switched over to fully synthetic with my 99 turbo with 132k miles. no leaks idles wayyy smoother. also I always thought any car above year 2000 requires fully synthetic. but ive done so much research about switching over and took the risk. people warned about leaks but thats if the car had leaks before and the fully synthetic just finds em. also royal purple is made for racing cars so you will feel the difference when you switch over. when i switched over my RPM was a bit higher, but i guess it was getting used to the new oil. =) hope any input helps? haha

Been running Mobil1 from the start, 7 miles on the odo. and changed every 5K. I knew I was not going to ever get rid of the car so I invested that way. All the fluids I change in advance of recommended intervals, including & especially this 6 speed tranny that VW says doesn't require a change of fluid. That I assume is so we can all buy that new $3000 new one. The valve body is aluminum and typically goes at around 80/90K and cost $1100. Synthetic all the way! The investment now is worth a bit of peace of mind for me.

Hello,
I run Mobil 15,000 mile oil, I think it's about $28.00 for a 5 qt. jug, and $7.00 for the extra qt. at Walmart cause my 08 2.5 uses 6qts. I run 15K at oil change intervals and it is a top full synthetic oil. I run the mobil filter but the Mobil site says any filter works just as good. I run it in my 07 Wrangler 4 door as well and it is a good oil, I used to run all Valvoline, and it's hard to beat but I trust Mobil and they stand behind their oil on engine falure if it should ever happen. Good Luck
