How many miles on the car? Have you done a transmission fluid flush?

33k miles. No I haven't done a fluid flush. Never messed with a transmission before.

Oh and if you really do have a 2005 car, you shouldn't have the 2.5L.

I've got the same trouble with my 99 2 liter, Dolly, which I picked up yesterday (35k on the clock).

When deaccelerating and moving my foot from acc to brake, or even coasting then brake, she lurches suddenly (like I've done a really clunky manual downshift). It's very disconcerting, especially for a newbie driver like me. I've noticed she also feels quite clunky when maintaining speed at around 25 up or down a hill, like she lurches as though I'm doing a terrible manual shift.

My friend said a transmission flush would be a great start to this problem, but my VW garage is a long drive away - and after reading lost of posts on the trans fluid problem saying it needs to be specific VW fluid, I'm very nervous about trying this with any old place.

Any advice??
