Default 2-3 minute delay on AC coming on?

I test drove an '06 NB convertible yesterday that's been on a dealership's lot for 2 months and when I turned on the AC it blew hot for 2 or 3 minutes while I drove around in their parking lot.

It blew cold once I began driving on the road and was a block or so away driving at 45 mph.

Is this normal.. or?

I'm thinking this car's been sitting for, at least several weeks undriven.

Thanks!

I'm so happy I caught this thread! This is a BAD sign. This is what happened to me a month after I had my NB. The compressor won't engage until the car is going 2.5k RPM, or around there. This is only going to get worse, and soon the compressor will die out.

It's a pretty expensive job, if you get it done be a mechanic. The part alone is a few hundred bucks.

I'm currently dealing with the aftermath of waiting to replace my compressor, now that it's summer instead of April.

Hope this helps, since I had the exact same problem!

I went ahead and purchased the NBC on Saturday and have already put over 200 miles on it, with no more AC issues.

Come's on quickly and is VERY cold.

In hindsight, since the AC push-button is nearly impossible to see whether it's light during the day when I performed the test drive... it's believable that I didn't actually have it turned on.

Oh goodness! Hope she treats you well, post pictures soon? Dash can pop off, it's probably a loose wire. Easy fix! Make sure your interior/dash lights are turned up as well (that little scroll wheel)!

What I should have said is, with the convertible top down during the daytime, it is nearly impossible to see whether the ac push button switch is illuminated to know whether the push button is activated or in the off position.

I performed the DTR lites disconnect tonight. It was necessary for me to tape the B post too, although both posts had wires in the female harness plug.

Well with sunlight in general, it's always hard to see. At least for me. :\

Welcome to the NBC club. I love my vert and you will love yours too. Post some pics when you get a chance.
