Default Timing Belt DIY for 2.5?

My '07 NB is knocking on 75K miles and probably due for a timing belt. Is there a DIY article for this specific engine? I found one for a 1.8T and 2.0, but don't know how different they are. Could I use either of those, or is the 2.5 significantly different?

I'm pretty sure the 2.5 uses a timing chain instead of a belt, but searching ecs and gap bring up neither. If it does use a chain, you're probably good with it till at least 150k, if not more. But the accesory belt and water pump and all other makor 100k service things should be looked at.

Yup, timing chain. I believe its on the bellhousing side of the engine as well. One of those "lifetime" VW deals that actually crap out at about 150k just like the VR6 timing chains and the automatic transmissions.

Rule out other causes first, I would hope that the timing chain setup wouldn't be making noise already. Good luck, post results of what you find.

That's why I said 150k because that's when most people say vr chains should start consideration
