Default turn signal sound generator problems

Hello everyone,

I have a 2002 2.0L normally aspirated beetle and the turn signal is having an intermittent problem that I hope you can help me diagnose.

When I use the turn signal the turn signals work, the dashboard indicator works and the clicking noise starts. The problem is that when I switch the turn signal off the ticking sound often keeps ticking. Sometimes the sound comes on and stays on randomly (without even using the turn signal).

If it's possible I would be willing to just disarm the noise generator. Any advice that you have would be great.

I have the same problem right now. So, if any one has ideas ... that would be awesome. Right now I am thinking it is the turn signal lever ... or, the hazard light button. ??

AFAIK the sound for the turn signals actually comes from a relay so no getting rid of it.

The hazard switch is likely your culprit, as Lnzbug has in her sig.
