It appears, from all I can find, that front fogs were optional, only as an inclusion, in the Package 2 Option on the 2006 and 2007 models. I can find no reference to front fogs being avaiilable singularly or as part of any package after 2007.

Based on this, I would have to say, the kit is P&P for the 2006 and 2007. For models after 2007, you have your work cut out, as Duffy did. Maybe someone can update this if you have factory front fogs in your 2008, 2009, or 2010.

Fogs were not available AFTER the 2007 model year.Having been available on the 2007 model as a Package 2 option, the wiring SHOULD be in place in yours. As with any production change, things can change as the plant's inventory is depleted. VW Parts Dept may be able to confirm that yours has the correct wiring harness to receive the fogs, by your VIN. As said, if you can visually confirm that the fog plug(s) are in place in your headlight harness it is a pretty good assumption you will be able to plug and play the kit. The relay will have to be plugged in. Since the fog option was long gone by '09 (Duffy's), he had to work from scratch. Forget the "relay, don't know why" comment. The relay is needed in the circuit if your NB has the fog wiring in place.

Does this help?

Aw! the reason for the relay. So, if the car is "fog ready" then all is needed is the fog lights and grilles. Hummm, do you suppose the fog inhibit relay is already installed too? What about the fog pull out position on the light switch? If not, by all means install the Euro light switch.

Sorry to have confused anyone.

It would be very unlikey the inhibit relay would be installed already, without the option on the car, no reason for the factory to spend the money. Good point about the switch! I have no clue, if prior to the total elimination of the fog option, VW used two different switches, or if one switch was used, with the switches in all vehicles being "fog ready". Again because of the pending deletion of the option, it's possible if the wiring is there that the switch is not. Logic, however, has it that if the same switch WAS used, regardless, the factory would have had on hand approximately the same number of switches as harnesses, e.g. oreder 10k of one from the vendor, order 10k of the other. The OPer can check this easy enough by testing to see if his existing switch has the feature, even though it would, in his vehicle, do nothing.

Maybe Duff, maybe! Thanks for the thought on the switch, I never even considered that. Hope the OPer can do the mod! Any idea where, in the headlight harness, to tell him to look for the fog light plug? Is there just one or two (the wiring diagram doesn't really reveal).
