Default Coolant Temperature Warning Light

Does anyone have '09, '10, or '11 Beetle (Hardtop or Convertible) that has a coolant temperature warning light that is blue when the engine is cold?

I'm pretty sure EVERY Beetle has this light. It is to let you know when it is blue, the engine is cold, when it goes off, engine is at normal operating temp. Red, or flashing red, maybe even a flashing blue, I can't recall for sure, means trouble. I am sure there are others that will verify or correct me if I am right or wrong.
Cheers, and Welcome to the org!

Actually every Beetle from 1998 until 2010 (There is not 2011 Beetle) have this light. It goes off after the coolant reaches normal operating temperature.
You only have to worry if it flashes Purple. That means your car will self destruct in 30 seconds. Pull over and run. (Just kidding )

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the last few years of the NB (maybe just the 'vert?) didn't have the blue light, just the red light, like all of the other Mk4 cars.

Default Weird Thing

Mine '09 Convertible did have blue and now doesn't.

Mechanics keep telling that it never had blue and never should have blue.

My Bentley Repair Manual only goes to 2007 so I guess they could've changed things in 2008.

Our 2007 does NOT have a blue light, only the red light that goes off if something is wrong

Read your manual. There is a world of info at your fingertips. It explains exactly what your asking. When it turns red, then worry.

Default blue light

Something to try, without starting the engine turn the key to the on position and leave for a while, all u dash lights should come on and then some should go out, look for your infamous blue light or temperature light. Welcome to the newbeetle.org group, good luck: cool:
