Well as promised, here's my longer post about the past 8 years. Here we go

2/2/1998. $250 deposit on 1 New Beetle. A 24 hour window to purchase or pass. That really led to the purchase of my family's White 98(Herbie Jr.)But the tax credit we got from selling him went towards Elwood.

9/1/1998. Pueblo Mexico. Elwood's born.

Fast forward to 11/13/1998. I receive a phone call from Billco Motors informing me that there are 3 new 1999 New Beetles that just came in, all automatics(my main must have at the time). I go down to the dealership to see a Batik Blue GLS all cleaned up sitting out side and a Techno Blue & Tornado Red in the service dept being PDIed. I pulled the Batik in next to the others and stared at the 3 for about a half an hour before deciding on the Batik, because it was the classiest looking color in my opinion. Another neat bragging right was that this was the first Batik Blue in the city of Pittsburgh. So there sits Elwood. Base MSRP $16,850. all the standard options plus northeast emission requirements at $100, and the 4 speed automatic at $875. Plus a destination charge of $525 brought him to $18,350. Dealer installed options of a CD changer $525, and Rave alloy wheels at $795. That has Elwood at $19,670.
Final sale price $19,832 with all taxes, tags, title fees, etc. 60 months @ 6.99% for $388.77 a month.

Now since then.

1 A/C compressor
1 Trunk release
2 Window switches(1 each side)
1 Set of tires
1 Cd changer
1 Mass air flow sensor
1 O2 sensor
1 Front bumper
1 Tail light bulb
1 set of window regulators
1 Outside mirror switch
1 Keyles entry remote
14 Oil changes
2 Tv commercials
1 Magazine picture
15 States
4 Trips to Canada
& 11 Trophys

It's been a great 8 years and here's to many happy more with Elwood.
