Don't recall how close but I am pretty sure I would not have tightened it down without having it all on the lip of the turbo inlet. And if you have a K04 on there ...there may be a difference.
The one I was worried about was the hose on that nipple ... had to use the OEM clamp ... but due to the increased size of the nipple ... it was a tight squeeze getting it over the nipple and hose ... thats why we had to slide it on the hose .. keep it open while trying to get the end of the hose over the nipple. It was a real PIA, I thought Samco would have resized that nipple to match the OEM pipe by now, like we really need it bigger for more vacuum with the higher flow going through there, even without the chip.
Did you use the Samco Clamps?
