about 2 months ago i blew the front left on my '01 1.8t
I bought 6.5 inch sonys they work allright
you do have to pull the door off and drill out 4 rivits,
besides that there are 4 holes in the new speaker that line right up
they sound good
just hope that you dont blow the rear pair
to replace those you have to pull the rear seat and front door weather stripping
