I congratulate him on getting something that makes him feel better, and something he has wanted for a long time.

I appreciate the honesty from a friend. Antoine and I hang out with each other often and I would expect no less.
And yeah, going (backwards) from a hybrid did concern me...but I do know some hypermiler tricks (like pulse and glide), and my foot does not lean on the gas like it did before I got hybrids.
Look, not to put a heavy spin on this by any means, but I am a cancer survivor, I have (albeit light, if there is such a thing), diabetes.
I already lost 30% of my right foot this year. Top it off with the lousy lack of selling my house in Florida for 14 (and counting), months, I just needed the mental pick me up this car provides.
The Highlander was getting in this Texas heat about 22 to 25 MPG on a good day, so with this car, I lose some of that, but the highway mileage will be higher then that, and I promise that the Prius is going nowhere; Ellen will drive that until the wheels come of, she loves that car.
But thanks for the congrats too, Antoine.
