I don't know why this keeps getting removed, but this event draws quite a few cars from Ohio, and the location's proximity to the Ohio border. Please keep it.
The good news is VW has been selected as Spotlight Car for the 2009 Grand Prix. Not quite the same as Marque of the Year which is BMW this year. But it is still very important since we're the first marque to get this honor. I would love to see as strong contingent of New Beetles come out ths year. My club is going to plan some really nice events for Saturday and Sunday. VW of America is on board to help sponsor the VW show and is supplying giveaways, cars, tent, etc to the event. We're going to have an original Herbie on display along with Max from the VW ads and a Jetta TDI Cup car also.
The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is a world class event like no other. Sanctioned races take place on closed public streets through beautiful Schenley Park, while Schenley Park Golf Course plays host to over 2000 automobiles from all over the world in the combined car shows. What started as a one day event in 1983 has grown to become a nearly 2 week long motorsports festival of car shows, races, parties, parades, etc. And the entire event benefits charity. Since 1983 this volunteer-driven event has raised over $2.4 million to benefit developmentally disabled individuals through the Autism Society of Pittsburgh & Allegheny Valley School. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix remains our country’s largest vintage race event and the only one run on actual city streets.
