Going to school isn't exactly a guarantee of finding someone either. I have to take night classes, and there are only 1 or 2 gals in the Electrical Engineering program at my university, and neither of them are really dating material (at least for me) IMO.
I'm thinking about signing up for a dating website, but every time I think about doing it, I change my mind. Just seems too impersonal... what do you tell your kids? "Well, your mother had the most beautiful avatar you could ever imagine...."
