the head swap is totally possible, there is a guy in Canada with the 8v block and 16v head still running on a chipped 8v ecu, with no codes.
I will be honest with you tho its not worth the time and money, especially if your not going to do boost right off, because it lowers the comp ratio with out custom pistons, pefect for boost but would be slower then your stock head Na.
also so you know you need to swap the crank gear for a custom machined one and use a 1.8t water pump and tensoner. its complicated job. and there is def some fab involved.
