Default SC's vs. Turbos...

Various car makers are currently Turbo charging their large V8's, straight 6's and 4 cylinder engines much more than Supercharging any of their engines presently. Porsche, BMW, Bentley, VW/Audi, etc. have all made models that use twin turbos, 4 turbos and single turbo gas and Diesel engined cars for a very pragmatic reason. You get more power for the fuel used and with simpler equipment. While I love the sound of a good supercharger, I like even more the sound of a turbo engine with proper intake and exhaust. The many arguments pro and con regarding both technologies is quite lengthy but in the end a Turbo charger is easier to install, gives you more options regarding size a manufacturer, and has more available that will fit your engine and car. The ECU change is critical along with increased fuel preasure and larger injectors along with the correct blow off valve assembly but in the end a Turbo will cost you slightly less. JK
