Update:

The cabrio blew a tire on the way to work. All the tires on the car were horribly shot when we got it, so i knew it was just riding on borrowed time. So after work, I got it a set of brand new tires with road hazard and all the other bells and whistles for under $300. Gotta love 14's.

I finally got a good axle for the audi, I get it all bolted together and wow, is this car a lot slower than the cabrio than i remembered... But all the knocks and clicking form the front end are completely gone now! YAY!! But the shaking at 50-60mph is still there. I brought it to the guy I bought the tires off off to get the front tires balanced again, and that helped it a good amount, but it still shakes a lot under braking... yay, new brake rotor time! He also pointed out to me that one of my rear tires were dry-rotted... really? He only sold me this tire not more than 3 months ago.... So i got outta there with $35 poorer, but with another rear tire and newly balanced fronts.
Yay.. that's it for now. Come back again for the saga of the brake rotors.....
