I'd probably personally just get an aftermarket unit if you can't get VW to take care of that for free. I have a Sony and its blue and red lighting matches the interior lighting perfectly, and there are many others out there that do. This way you won't have any issues with entering codes when you change the battery, etc.
OK, I stand corrected, my mistake, if you do it yourself and get budget approved radio, with no speakers, then yes $100-$200 is ball park. I'm tend to lean toward the pricey end, Blaupunkt, Alpine, Denon, etc... and I get a matched set of four speakers to go with it. Unless their installation is free, I do it myself.
