If you go browse the site, it lets you know what you get with the full blown one, vs lite. Lite is probably fine for most. But it really depends on what you want to do with it. Just scanning and resetting? Lite is probably fine. Plan on tweaking a lot of settings and monitoring systems on the car, you'll want the full version. I have access to the full version, my FIL has it, and the shop we go to has it as well. I love having the full version, even though we don't really use much of the capabilities on it very often, its nice to have. If I were to personally buy it, I'd shell out for the full version.

I think there is a VAG-COM thread somewhere around here that explains more about the versions and connections.
