Does anyone else have this issue? The stock silver paint on the steering wheel trim has a tendency to get scratched. I tried to fix this with silver touch-up paint (like that used for wheels) and what resulted was a disaster! First of all, that trim is plastic, not metal as I believed. So when I removed my lousy-looking touch-up job, it also took off the factory paint! That would have been okay, because it's black underneath, but it was all uneven and melted (my paint remover must have contained acetone! Oops!

) Anyway, I tried covering this up with chrome and black duct tape. That looked like hell, too. Now, my NB is in the body shop. They will have to remove the steering wheel and the attached airbag, mask it, sand down my botched job, and re-paint these pieces! But....to make things interesting, I'm having them use Cyber Green to match my body color.

The moral? If you suck at painting as I do, it can be quite costly to remedy the problem.
